What a beautiful bride you were. I love the dress! Happy WW!

When I set out to find a wedding dress, I said I wanted a full, fluffy princess skirt… no big bow on the tush… no big train. I ended up with this stunning dress… no full skirt, HUGE bow on my butt, and a cathedral length train. The dress must have weighed 20 pounds, but it was beautiful. The sweet little lady who helped my mom and me said she had this lacy veil that she loved but no one ever liked. She said she made a rule of showing it to everyone, though. And I fell in love with it. All lacy and flowing but not over my face. Who knew?

Still just as beautiful today as you were then.

    Yours

So pretty. Our 21st is next month and it’s hilarious to see the pictures - we look like babies! Thanks for dropping by my blog — I’m trying to do better about posting. I so appreciate the interest. Happy Anniversary.

We do all look like such innocents in those wedding pictures, don’t we? All of the things we didn’t know or expect all blessedly beyond the realm of our imaginations. I was confident in Mike’s love then, just like now. Pretty amazing, I think.

    Happy Anniversary!

You have become one of my biggest encouragers, you know. Thank you!

I’m so glad you posted the wide shot — that was pretty much my viewpoint for the whole beautiful service, and I remember it like yesterday. Isn’t it funny how 14 years seems like ages and moments, all at the same time? Things I remember from your wedding day…
    * How meticulously you had planned every tiny detail.
    * How stunning and unique your dress was and how it was completely you.
    * How agreeable and calm you were. Unsettling, really.
    * That I loved your church and all the new friends you’d come to find and how proud I was at the new life you were making for yourself so far from “home.”
    * Lord, how hot it was! How were you so beautiful and serene in that heat?!?
    * Not really knowing Mike yet and, while he wasn’t like anyone else we’d seen you date, that was exactly why he was so right.
    * Making sure we got together for the traditional leg shot!
    * One word for you — GRITS.
    * How Jon and I loved you and so very much we wished for you all the happiness life had in store for you. And we still very much do.
Our love to you and Mike!

You are so sweet!! And seriously, I tell people that I had THE best wedding coordinator ever. I’d forgotten all about the grits. I swear. Only in the deep South will people in the middle of August - when the bride was wearing the heaviest dress ever - throw grits. There’s something really nasty about grits that stuck to your clammy, sweaty skin and began to melt into it. Ugh. And being a child of the ’80s, I picked grits out of my hair for days. God bless that forever hold hair spray!

You, of course, know (or I hope you do) that you and Jon are some of my favorite memories of college and some of our favorite memories of our early married life. I was showing Eliza a picture just the other day of Griff at his first Astros baseball game - with you and Jon in the background. :)
