Wordless Wednesday - Little Blue Hair

September 24th, 2008

Eliza requested blue hair this time. :)

What do you think? Again.

September 15th, 2008

It’s a work in progress… I can’t tell if it’s cute or tacky. It’s for Eliza for Halloween.

Bit of honey…

August 14th, 2008

Or just a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Lots of little random things to say, nothing big to post. Bear with me.

(Funny story… when Mike was in graduate school, he worked fulltime at a rental car company washing cars - he details a fine car - while going to school fulltime. One of the men who worked with him got nervous when dealing with upset women at the desk. His saying was, ‘ma’am, ma’am, bear with me ma’am.’ And we say that all the time. Makes us laugh.)

Anyhoo…

** I’m trying to be more diligent about responding to comments in the comments. So if you left me a comment (aren’t you sweet?!), I most likely left you one, too. Go see.

** We went to open house at Griff’s school tonight. It went really well. They are doing some switching of classes with the fifth grade students, so he’ll be changing classes. His homeroom teacher is one of the two we requested (on the recommendation of his gifted teacher), and the teacher he’ll have when he switches for reading is the other. And he still has his gifted teacher. I’m hoping for a really good school year for him this year. Last year was so hard. Poor kid deserves a break.

He walked up and down the stairs all by himself!! The fifth grade is on the second floor, and he’s been sooo worried about it. He was pumped to have made it on the stairs.

** We get audits at work from the home office, and I don’t know how the region did, but I got all good reports on my files, which is super exciting.

** Tomorrow, the kids are going to spend the weekend with Chuck, Stacy and the cousins, and Mike and I are having a lazy anniversary weekend. We’re going to an old, historic theatre in town to see an old black and white movie (one of my favorites) before going to dinner at this little Cajun restaurant downtown. I can smell the jambalaya now. Then, Saturday, we’re gonna lay in our jammies and watch six hours of “Burn Notice.” How much fun is that?

Eliza has already packed. Two suitcases. Two pink, tiny suitcases. Full of clothes and books and babies and who knows what else. Mike’s about to sit on the Hello Kitty suitcase so she can zip it. How cute is that?

** Why do the women volleyball players in the Olympics wear teeny bikinis but the men wear tee shirts? Seriously. They couldn’t throw us a tank top?

** Now, here’s a confession (maybe most of you quit reading before this point, huh?). I am working on a new personal project. It’s a year-long project so that maybe I’ll approach it sensibly. I don’t want to talk about it here much, so I created a new page for it. You can link to the info at the top with the By the 15th link. Comment if you’d like. Follow my progress if you’d like. But be kind, ok? Despite how really open I am here, this is a lot of honesty for me.

** I’ve gotta go download some kid shows from iTunes for Eliza to watch on Mike’s phone while they wait for Griff’s allergy shot tomorrow. They’re also going to the dentist tomorrow. Not a bad day to go to work, from what I can tell. And I rarely say that!

Wordless Wednesday - A Pink Streak

August 6th, 2008

Whenever I go get my hair colored, Eliza always asks me to get pink hair. Now that I’ve grown it out a bit, I got a hot pink streak, just for her.

It’s brighter in person. We couldn’t find a new battery for the camera (not for a lack of obsessive trying on Mike’s part), so this is with the iPhone & it’s a little muted.

We’re a little blurry. Eliza offered to take the next photo for Mike. He didn’t seem to appreciate her offer.

Wordless Wednesday - Watch out Project Runway

July 30th, 2008

She cut her own hair and now she’s making her own clothes. Clearly, she has a creative future.

She took a huge Target bag and a pair of kiddie scissors and made herself a dress.

The back view. Cute, huh?

Can I tell you what a proud mama I’d be in years and years if she was on Project Runway? I’d SO have to go visit so I could meet Tim Gunn.
